FLOWERS, FLOWERS AND …MORE FLOWERS

July 27th, 2010

Dear friends, this summer in Europe, the patterns were with  flowers. Flowers everywhere.

All the windows were looking like spring. Flower dresses, flower shirts, flower skirts, flower trousers, flower shorts, well everything was about flowers. Even underwear …

So, for those who really like flowers, this summer was the perfect fashion style for them. For those who don’t, but like to follow fashion, well….just try some and see that it’s not so bad to look girlie sometimes.

But, of course I also saw different things. Greens were on top. That lime green and military green, were the shades for the new collections for September.

Even if I’m not a fan of that colour, I have to confess that not just I loved, I also found myself buying some green clothes.

Shorts are very inn, but before you jump and buy some, be aware that not everybody looks stunning in that small pieces.  Nice legs are required.

Long dresses seem to come back. But in this case, check first if you are not too small, because you will look even smaller. I am not saying that you have to be 1.90m, but not either 1.50m.

Now, about shoes, they were beaaaauuuuutiful.  A little bit too high but very nice. We are going back to pointy  and clogs.

If you are wondering if your big bags are still fashionable… yes they are.

So, maybe you can still save some money in the end of the day. It is still the same style concerning BAGS.

Well, for today I am done, but be sure I am coming back very soooonnn…

BACK IN CAPE TOWN

July 18th, 2010

Dear friends

Here I am back to the beautiful Cape Town.

I feel great and young after some weeks in Europe. All the windows and shopping made me so happy.

The weather was fantastic and I really enjoyed.

I am preparing an article concerning the new tendencies for autumn.

I would like to thanks all the friends who sent me a message to encourage me. It helps me a lot.

LONDON

June 20th, 2010

I’ve been so busy lately that I had no time to write any articles. I am leaving today to London for 3 weeks. Shopping, Shopping and more Shopping…

I really need an update on Fashion. South Africa is a great country, but in Cape Town, we don’t have the latest fashion from Europe. Boutiques are not so nice.

So, wait for me in 3 weeks with all the news.

WHAT MEN THINK ABOUT FASHION

May 26th, 2010

Things are really changing, especially in the fashion world. Men are now more into fashion and style.

Men are no longer scared to be seen wearing colours like pinks and purples, or even going  into a beauty saloon. Men like to be modern and  they like to be daring.

Some men shape their eyebrows, wax their body and this is about Grooming, this is about looking nice and clean.

However, is not so easy sometimes to mix and match colours or to know exactly what clothes to wear for different occasions.

There are some easy rules that you should know, like keeping the things simple, updating a classic, keeping clothes in good condition and grooming

If you pay attention to the last fashion shows, you notice that ties are narrower then before, collars are smaller, buttonholes changed…

Now, let’s talk about clothes and styles.

To go to work, wear professional/smart. A dark suit  with a  light shirt and a nice patterned tie is the safest option. But you can also try a patterned shirt and tie, always keeping it classy. Choose light colours instead bold ones.

If you want to party by night just replace the trouser by a pair of jeans and take off the tie. Keep your nice jacket because it will give you an informal look.

If you decide to go for a casual look, wear your jeans with a white T-shirt,  a leather jacket and a pair of white tennis. Add a scarf to complete your look.

As you can see, it is easy and simple to be fashionable. You just need to choose the right clothes.

Anything is possible

TexturesSome years ago, if you tried to wear mixed textures or even mixed Mix and Match Patternspatterns, you would look ridiculous  and it was considered a bad taste, or no sense of style at all.

Now, if you look at the last fashion shows, you will see what the designers are creating. They mix different patterns and textures and the result is stunning.

Bumixture of patternst, be careful when you try. If you look at the pictures , you will notice that normally when you mix patterns, the tonalities are the same.

And in my opinion is also a question of personality. Some people can pull it off extravagant styles while other people cannot.

So if you are willing to try a new style or go for a different look, just remember that ANYTHING IS PPatternsOSSIBLE…

MAKE UP TIP

May 11th, 2010

BEFORE YOU APPLY YOUR FOUNDATION ALWAYS MOISTURIZE YOU SKIN FIRST BECAUSE IT WILL HELP THE FOUNDATION TO  MELT INTO YOUR SKIN.

Still gorgeous over 50

Natalie Cole

My article today is about phenomenal women who assume their age. Women that all of us admire for sure.

I am talking about Sharon Stone (50), Iman (52), Natalie Cole (58), Jane Fonda (73) and even Sophia Loren (76).

Sharon StoneIman

Getting older and still looking beautiful seems very hard. But let me give you some advice to help you keep your beauty and always look stunning.

First of all, when you get the first signs (like you can’t apply your make up so well anymore, because you need glasses…) please just be honest and assume that you are getting THERE…

Now there are some steps you can follow to help you:

  • For your make up, buy liquid foundation. With powder your wrinkles will be more evident. Also avoid metalic eye shadows.
  • Take care of your skin. Always moisturize and clean your skin, and don’t forget the sun’s protector.
  • Always buy your clothes in the correct size. Too big or too small is not nice.
  • Buy your clothes with sleeves, because your arms are getting flaccid.
  • If you are losing your eyebrows, get help from a professional before you decide to tatoo them.
  • Buy nice glasses, if you can afford,  buy the famous brands, because they are better quality and you get more beautiful designs.
  • When you buy lingerie, please don’t forget that your breasts and tummy are more flaccid than before, so get the appropriate ones.

In fact, all those women remind us that we can also be beautiful, charming, elegants and sexy after 50,  if we just follow some rules.

Start to clean your wardrobe before you buy new clothes for the new season. A good option is to sell your clothes to vintage stores or even try to swap with your friends the clothes that you don’t want anymore.

The Art of Layering

May 10th, 2010

Be fashionable!!!
Layering is the biggest word in fashion now, so learn some tricks to layer.

First of all mix textures, but avoid bulky clothes. You have to look slim with all your layers on. You can wear a long shirt with a shorter jacket and a thick scarf that will give you a cool image.

Another option is to wear a thin long-sleeved dress with a pair of  leggings and on top of the dress wear a waistcoat or a light cardigan.

Choose always neutral colours such as greys or light browns to give you a chic look instead of a cheap one.

Wear a lace top under a buttoned dress opened and over that a light cardigan. You complete the look with a pair of high boots to look sexy.

These are just some examples. Now put your imagination to work – go and look in your wardrobe for possibilities to do layering.
